WHAT: An open house-style meeting to inform the public on the upcoming construction on Segment 3 of the I-75 modernization project. Segment 3 is located between 8 Mile and 13 Mile roads. The work in 2020 will involve rebuilding northbound I-75 from 8 Mile Road to I-696.

BACKGROUND: MDOT and Oakland Corridor Partners will share details on the 2020 construction of northbound I-75 from 8 Mile Road to I-696. The project includes rebuilding pavement, overpasses and retaining walls. In order to complete this quadrant in one construction season, all I-75 traffic will be sharing the southbound side of the freeway with two lanes maintained in each direction. Overpass work is scheduled to begin in late February; road work is scheduled to begin in March.

The I-75 Modernization Project, which is introducing the first HOV lane in Michigan, has been accelerated. The original nine construction segments are now combined into three segments. Segment 1 is complete, with Segment 2 and Segment 3 actively in progress. Construction progress updates are posted as they occur.
