Notice of Election & Public Accuracy Test


To the Qualified Electors of Hazel Park - Oakland County:

Notice is hereby given that a General Election will be held in the City of Hazel Park on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020. The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the polling places listed below:

Precinct 1 - Tabernacle Baptist Church, 22323 S. Chrysler Drive
Precinct 2 - Community Center, 620 W. Woodward Heights
Precinct 3 - Hazel Park Jr. High School, 22750 Highland
Precinct 4 - Church of the Nazarene, 696 E. Mahan
Precinct 5 - Hazel Park High School, 23400 Hughes
Precinct 6 - St. Justin’s Catholic Church, 1600 E. Evelyn

For the purpose of nominating candidates for the participating political parties for the following offices: Federal – President, U.S Senator and Representative in Congress. State – Representative in State Legislature, State Board of Education, Regent of the University of Michigan, Trustee of Michigan State University, and Governor of Wayne State University. County - County Executive, Prosecuting Attorney, Sheriff, Clerk & Register of Deeds, Treasurer, Water Resources Commissioner, and County Commissioner 18th District. Judicial – Justice of Supreme Court, Judge of Court of Appeals 2nd District, Judge of Circuit Court 6th Circuit, Judge of Probate Court, and Judge of District Court 43rd District.  School and Library Boards - Oakland Community College Board of Trustees, Hazel Park School District Board, and Hazel Park District Library Board. Proposal(s) - Proposal 20-1,  A proposed constitutional amendment to allow money from oil and gas mining on state-owned lands to continue to be collected in state funds for land protection and creation and maintenance of parks, nature areas, and public reaction facilities; and to describe how money in those state funds can be spent; Proposal 20-2, A proposed constitutional amendment to require a search warrant in order to access a person’s electronic data or electronic communications; Proposal for Oakland County Parks and Recreation Millage, Millage replacement and increase to improve, Operate, and Maintain Parks, Open Space Areas, Trails, and Recreation Activities in Oakland County, Michigan. The City Clerk’s Office will be open on Saturday, October 31st, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for all qualified voters that wish to vote by Absent Voter ballot.  All polling locations are handicap accessible, audio and braille versions of the voting instructions are available upon request.  Any questions contact the City Clerk’s office at 248-546-4064.

Additionally, voters are advised that a public accuracy test will be conducted on Wednesday, October 28th, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) for the purpose of testing the accuracy of the tabulating equipment and programs that will be used to tabulate the voted ballots for the General Election to be held on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020, on the 2nd Floor of City Hall, 111 E.
